EAST WINDSOR VETERANS COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
MINUTES
for
Wednesday, June 21, 2006

OPENING:
Warren Wenz, Chairman, opened this meeting at 7:05 P.M. at the East Windsor Town Hall.  There were seven commission members in attendance: Warren Wenz, Ron Hwalek, William Abbe Sr., Mark Simmons, George Butenkoff, John Lichatz, and Ken Crouch.  
Absent: Dave Malo, Don Brown, Ernie Teixeira, Rick Webster, Fred McDermott, James Barton and Linda Roberts

Chairman Warren Wenz led the Commission in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  The minutes of the June 1, 2006, meeting were reviewed by those present.
        MOTION: Ron Hwalek moved to accept the minutes as submitted.  This was seconded by George Butenkoff and carried unanimously.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Ron Hwalek reported that our “Trust Fund” account has a balance of $28,500.00.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony Committee-
        No report

Memorial Day Poster/Essay Contest Committee-
        No report.

Scholarship Committee-
        No report

Veterans Cemetery Project-
        Ken Crouch reported that the proposed roadway improvement to the cemetery was approved by the Board of Selectmen and the Planning & Zoning Commission.  Ken reported that two bids for our cemetery roadway plan were received and added that we should lock in on the current price due to an anticipated rise in costs for paving material this July.  Ken reported that the bid received from Ray Boutin of $25,000.00 for the roadway project was the most reasonable.

        MOTION:  George Butenkoff moved to accept the Ray Boutin, Inc. bid of $25,000.00 for the completion of our cemetery roadway project as per our submitted landscape plan. (copy of our proposed plan is on file with Town Clerk’s office).  This was seconded by John Lichatz and carried unanimously.

Veterans Day Road Race Committee-
        Ron Hwalek presented a proposed redesign of our race day T-shirt logo.  Those present offered several suggestions and agreed to use the new design for this year’s race day T-shirt.

Thursday, September 7, 2006, at 7PM
East Windsor Town Hall

ADJOURNMENT

        Hearing of no further business to come before the commission, Chairman Warren Wenz asked for a motion to adjourn.  George Butenkoff moved to adjourn this meeting and this was seconded by John Lichatz.  The motion carried unanimously.  The Chairman closed the meeting at 7:18 P.M.
